Hello September and shopping local farmers markets.

I can’t believe it’s September already. While I was pretty much sick of the  summer heat, it seems like the summer months flew by.  September and October have always been my favorite months. They bring back memories of new school clothes, high school football games, and multi-color leaves in the mountains. My mental switch from summer mode to fall mode usually starts around Labor Day and I start thinking about comfort foods – slow cooked roasts, baked macaroni and cheese, and apple pies.  There’s nothing better than the smell of a fresh baked apple pie cooling on the counter.

Growing season here in Tennessee is quickly wrapping up but there’s still have time to shop some of our local farmers markets. Most of these markets will be open through the end of the month.
