Franklin Main Street Festival

The annual Franklin Main Street Festival is taking place this weekend. My husband and I go every year and always enjoy it. There’s a phenomenal collection of craftsman and artisans selling everything from stained glass window hangings to earrings made from recycled bottle caps. I was happy to see that the festival made an effort to make the event more eco friendly. There were special collection containers for plastic water bottles and aluminum cans all over the place. Downtown Franklin typically sees about 130,000 people during the weekend of this event so that’s a lot of waterbottles. Kudos to the Downtown Franklin Association for trying to lessen their environmental impact.
I would me remiss if I neglected to mention the array of street food available. We get our kettle corn fix during the festival as well as our “fried and greasy” fix. We were starving when we got there today so weren’t in the mood to wait in line very long for something to eat. We had corn dogs and hand cut fries. So much for expanding our culinary horizons.
